Why we must vote « NO » to the initiative against the international law |
On 25 November 2018, the Self-Determination Initiative will be submitted to Swiss people’s vote. In case of acceptation, this initiative will introduce considerable uncertainty for the numerous treaties concluded by Switzerland with countries all over the world and lead to a deterioration of our relationships with them. Not to mention the loss of credibility for a Switzerland that would renege on its commitments! The key advantage of Switzerland on the international scene is its political and legal stability. We must not needlessly put it in danger. This is why the Association of Swiss Private Banks commits itself strongly against this initiative, which is harmful to the future of Switzerland and its economy. |

The Association of Swiss Private Banks (ASPB) currently comprises 9 member banks with assets under management of more than 800 billion Swiss francs and employing approximately 8100 people across the globe, two third of them in Switzerland. Its permanent Secretariat is located in Geneva. The ASPB's primary mission is to establish and maintain conditions that support the development of the private and institutional asset management sector in Switzerland.
The members of the ASPB are Swiss private banks active mainly in private and institutional asset management, and regulated by the Federal Law on Banks and Savings Banks of 8 November 1932. |
