In the NZZ, the President of the Association of Swiss Private Banks is in favour of the deductibility, at least in part, of foreign fines. On the one hand, because these run afoul of the Swiss legal system when they are too high. On the other hand, these fines have become a real source of revenues for some countries and Swiss leading export companies make particularly choice targets. Therefore foreign fines should be deductible, for legal reasons as well as on economic grounds. |
